Did you know that over-mulching is a very common reason for plant failure? It is important to know what the proper cover depth is when you mulch. This is especially true when mulching around trees. For this reason we recommend to mulch lightly and frequently, rather than ‘piling’ it on every couple of years. As mulch breaks down, it not only puts nutrients into the soil, it also acts as a water absorbent which is slowly released to the soil around the plant.
